Always Talk to Us If You Have Any Type of Dental Pain
Posted on 6/21/2021 by Dr. Call
If you schedule regular 6-month exams and cleanings with us, you can avoid problems with dental pain or discomfort. In the interim, if you experience any type of mouth pain, you need to call us and schedule a dental exam. Any type of oral pain is not normal and is a warning that you need to have some type of dental treatment or therapy.
Jaw Pain
Jaw pain is often caused by a dental condition known as temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMD. TMD may be brought on my bruxism (grinding and clenching of the teeth), a dental misalignment or bad bite (malocclusion), or from overusing the jaw. Whatever the reason for jaw soreness or pain, it needs to be addressed immediately. It could be an indicator of a far bigger dental problem.
Tooth Pain
One of the most common forms of dental pain is tooth pain. Tooth pain will not resolve itself on its own. Either you will need to get a filling or schedule a root canal. When decay reaches the dentin or pulp, it needs to be reviewed and treated. Dental decay that reaches these levels exposes nerves in the tooth that can be sensitive to hold or cold, or which can trigger an infection.
Gum Soreness and Pain
If your gum is painful and sore and bleeding, this indicates that you have a gum infection or gum disease. The sooner you treat the problem, the sooner you will find relief from the soreness and pain. If you are in the first stage of gum disease, we can perform a deep cleaning to lessen any discomfort and improve gum health.
Are you experiencing mouth pain? If so, you need to contact us immediately. Any type of dental pain is a signal that you need professional intervention. Give us a call today to schedule an appointment for an exam.
