You would need to replace your electric toothbrush once every 3 months, if you're using just a normal toothbrush, you will need to replace it once every 3 months as well. The head of the normal or electric toothbrush is made of hundreds of bristles that are bunched together that crates the head of the brush we have today. Some of the bristles might be shorter, some might be longer, some might be in different angle, and some might be in different colors. Understanding The Function And Durability Of A Toothbrush HeadThe head of the toothbrush is designed to be used over and over and over again, and the nylon that the bristles are made of can withstand thousands of different movements, but then there comes a time that the bristles will wear down, and split apart from the tight group that they were formed in when you first got the toothbrush. For an example like the tires on a vehicle, if you are using them often they will get worn out and will need to be changed, well same goes for the head of your toothbrush, but in some cases, it's not about the waiting until the head looks worn out, that's because the wear and tear on the bristles are not always noticeable. How Often Should A Toothbrush Be Replaced? We suggest that you change out the head of your toothbrush once every 2-3 months and the American Dental Association agrees also. In this amount of time the bristles will normally hold their shape, but we suggest you take a good look at your toothbrush and see if it's holding, or if the bristles are shorter or split apart from the group, if they are then it's time for a change! The cause of worn out bristles is mainly that you are brushing your teeth too hard and with too much pressure than normal. If the head of your toothbrush has damage to the bristles it will cause more damage to your teeth and gums and it won't clean as much like they used to. So overall it is best to change the head of your toothbrush once every 2-3 months. If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call! |
